IPP39 Kanazawa exchange puzzles
7 August 2019At Mr Puzzle we made two puzzles designed by George Sicherman for this year’s IPP39 held in Kanazawa, Japan. The Edward Hordern puzzle exchange event is…
6 piece board burr. Unique solution. 2483 false assemblies.
Junichi Yananose was the first puzzle designer to create a board burr way back in 1990. Eventually the board burrs were also analysed; work done by Frans de Vreugd and Bill Cutler in early 2002.
This Holey 6 Board Burr II is one of the designs that came out of the analysis of another set of burrs that Junichi did in 2009. For this set he added a completely new feature which is the holes in the end of the burr. These holes are an integral part of this working puzzle. In 2009 Mr Puzzle released one version of the puzzle as a Limited Edition (Sold out Limited Edition from 2012. See our Blog Page). We won’t ever make this Limited Edition puzzle again.) but this is too good a puzzle to be ignored and we wanted to make a much less expensive version available to everyone. This puzzle is similar but a different design to the Limited Edition release – one thing about Juno – there’s never any shortage of brilliant designs to be made!
For this puzzle Brian has reverted back to his basic philosophy that burrs should be given disassembled so you test your ability to solve the puzzle, not your ability to memorise how you took it apart:)
The puzzle is sold disassembled and we’re rating it 10/10 to put together (goes without saying this is without using BurrTools or another computer program to help!).
This puzzle is made from clear acrylic….. as if it wasn’t going to be hard enough we’ve now made it see-through!
Size: 70mm x 70mm x 70mm
